St Aidan. Sudden. Rochdale

History of St Aidan's Choir

Saint Aidan's is proud of having a long tradition of choral singing since the church was founded in 1915.
We are a large mixed robed S.A.T.B choir, which is affiliated to the Royal School of Church Music. The choir is an enthusiastic group of boys, girls, ladies and gentlemen who come from a wide range of musical backgrounds and abilities.

Our choristers all share a common bond - that they all simply enjoy singing in church and take great satisfaction from the team spirit that is found whilst being part of a choir. Led by Choirmistress, Elizabeth Milne, the choir enthusiastically plays an active role in life at the church.

Membership of the choir is open to both males and females from the age of 8 years and above. In keeping with Saint Aidan's Church's long tradition of having large number of organised singers, today's choir has 33 members on the roll call.

This makes the choir at Saint Aidan's one of a very small number of RSCM affiliated church choirs from within the diocese of Manchester that have full 'S.A.T.B' status, including junior choristers.

The choir's main responsibility is to lead the congregation at the regular Sunday morning Family Communion service and Sung Evensong later on in the day. The choir will perform in concerts, recitals and at wedding ceremonies within Rochdale  and surrounding districts

The choir is always seeking to add new members.  For further information about joining the choir then please do not hesitate to
telephone our Choir Director, Mrs Elizabeth Milne ( Tel: 01706-633179 ) for a friendly chat
